Introduction

Water Tracker is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application. We believe in transparency and want you to understand exactly how your data is handled.

Information We Collect

Water Tracker is designed with privacy in mind. Your hydration history stays on your device. The exceptions are optional anonymous analytics, sent only with your consent, and purchase records handled by RevenueCat, both described below. Here is what the app collects:

• Daily water intake records and hydration goals (stored locally)
• App settings and notification preferences (stored locally)
• Anonymous, opt-in usage analytics to help improve the app, via PostHog (no name, email or account, no advertising)

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely to provide and improve the Water Tracker service:

• Track your daily hydration progress and maintain your history
• Send personalized reminders based on your schedule and goals
• Analyze anonymous usage patterns to enhance app functionality

Data Storage and Security

Your hydration log, goals and settings are stored on your device using secure local storage. If you opt in to analytics, individual logging events (amount and drink type) are also sent to PostHog, as described in the Analytics section below. If you uninstall the app, the data on your device is permanently removed.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes, and we never use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking. Your hydration history stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. To provide certain features, limited data is handled by the service providers described below: billing (Apple, Google, RevenueCat), anonymous analytics (PostHog), and local weather (Open-Meteo). Each receives only what that feature needs.

Subscription & Purchase Data

When you make a purchase or start a free trial, transaction data is processed by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat. This includes your subscription status, purchase date, and anonymous transaction identifiers. No personal or health data is ever shared with these services. Under GDPR, RevenueCat acts as a data processor on our behalf under a written data processing agreement; the legal basis for this processing is performance of a contract. Data may be processed in the United States under GDPR-compliant Standard Contractual Clauses. You can manage your subscriptions through your App Store or Google Play account settings. Analytics

With your consent, we use PostHog to understand how the app is used. Each drink you log is sent as an event with its amount, drink type and the hour it was logged. Other events cover reaching your daily goal (with your streak length), setting or clearing a custom goal (with the goal amount), turning reminders on or off, changing the theme, finishing onboarding, review prompts, and the upgrade flow: when the upgrade screen or an offer is shown, which plan is selected, and whether a purchase is started, completed, cancelled, failed or restored. Events also carry the app version, your platform and the country from your device's region settings, and are linked to the same random app ID that our subscription provider (RevenueCat) uses. Your full history, goals and settings stay on your device; PostHog only receives the individual events described here. It does not receive your name, email, account, health data or location, and we never use it for advertising or cross-app tracking. Your IP address is not stored with the events, and the app sends no crash reports, session recordings or automatic screen captures. PostHog acts as our data processor and stores this data in the United States. Analytics is off until you opt in, and you can turn it off at any time in the app's settings.

Location and Weather

If you enable weather-adaptive goals (an optional premium feature), the app requests your approximate device location and sends the coordinates to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) to retrieve local temperature and humidity. We store only the resulting weather values, not your coordinates, and your identity is never attached to the request. This feature stays off unless you turn it on and grant location permission.

Health Data

With your permission, Water Tracker can read sleep and workout data and write your hydration and caffeine intake to Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android). This data stays on your device and in your chosen health store; it is never transmitted to us or to any third party. You control these permissions and can revoke them at any time in your device's health settings.

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

• Access all your data directly within the app
• Delete your data by uninstalling the app or using in-app reset options
• Export your hydration data for personal use (feature available in app)

Security Measures

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. Since your hydration history is stored on your device and all data leaves it only over encrypted HTTPS connections, we recommend keeping your device secure with appropriate lock screens and security settings.

Children's Privacy

Water Tracker is safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app needs no account, keeps the hydration history on the device and leaves analytics off unless someone opts in, so parents stay in control of what, if anything, is shared.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any significant changes through the app or our website. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
